Microsoft Wants to Change The Way You Use Your Touchscreen

MICROSOFT feels that the way we touch the screen of our smartphones is now outdated.
The company is talking about making the touch more realistic. Company's senior researcher Hong Tan has stated that "The touch is limited to sliding and tapping gestures only. And this limitation needs to be changed."

Microsoft is developing the touchscreen technology which will provide us with different sensations based on what we are actually doing with our screen. For example, If we tap on an on-screen button then we would feel as if we have just clicked our mouse button. If we type on our screen then it would make us feel as if we are actually typing on a keyboard. The pressing down of a button would be felt at our finger tips. Even If we are moving any file from one screen to another then we would be able to feel the weight and size of file while moving it.

According to company, all these effects will be achieved by different methods. For an instance, for the keyboard gestures a layer is put under the glass which bends under the electric voltage. This would make the glass bend a little upon each touch. I personally think that this technique would work much more efficiently on flexible screens, which would increase the degree of bending. Further more, the friction between the fingers and the screen would also be controlled by the electric voltage.

It seems that the product will be available soon in the market. One thing is clear through company's these kind of researches that the company is broadly focusing on making our smart touchscreen gadgets more smarter and in future may place them as the mirror image of our primary computers.
